We recommend visiting Dr. Wallin every six months for regular dental cleanings and exams to keep your mouth healthy and your smile bright.   • Tooth Removal – Dr. Wallin tries to save a patient’s diseased or damaged tooth whenever possible. Sometimes, however, tooth removal is needed to keep your other teeth and your gums healthy and prevent bigger, long-term problems. Count on us to complete your extraction quickly and comfortably.

  • Bone Grafts – Dental implants make it possible for Dr. Wallin to replace your missing teeth with beautiful dental restorations. However, if your jawbone isn’t strong enough or tall enough to support implants, he can add synthetic bone material that will stimulate your jaw to produce new bone cells. After a few months, you’ll be ready to receive your new implants right here in our office. When the process is complete, you’ll be eating any kind of food you want again!

Common Questions About Oral Surgery

When would I need oral surgery?

There are several circumstances that might require oral surgery. If you or your loved one has a badly damaged or diseased tooth, it may need removal. Likewise, wisdom teeth often cause problems as they emerge and need to be extracted. Other procedures like bone grafts prepare your mouth for treatments such as dental implants.

When can I exercise after oral surgery?

For the first 24 hours after oral surgery, you shouldn’t attempt any sort of exercise. Doing too much too soon can cause problems. For example, strenuous exercise could loosen the blood clot on a tooth extraction site and cause a painful dry socket. After the first day, limit your exercise to low-impact activities for a few more days to be on the safe side.

Is there much pain after oral surgery?

Your pain level will vary depending on the extent of your surgical procedure, your age, and your overall health. For some procedures, you may feel little or no pain as you recover. For more extensive procedures, you may have some soreness. In any case, we’ll provide guidance to help you minimize pain and soreness.
