Even while in dental school, before I graduated, I had a dream of not only owning my own office but to create it from scratch. It’s something that reflected me, reflected my values, and allowed me to practice dentistry in a way that I felt was the right way to practice.
After working in several associateships, I experienced the corporate world of dentistry and even had the opportunity to work in some private offices. It really gave me a good understanding of what patients are up against when choosing a dentist in this day and age. I’ve considered that in opening my own office. When I decided to do that in 2015, it was a fulfillment of a dream but also a real milestone for me in my career in feeling satisfied about practicing my profession the way that I felt good about.
I hope when you experience our office, that you see that our practice reflects the values that are core and important to me. I genuinely look at each patient that comes through my door as if they’re a friend or a family member and would treat you the same way that I would treat a family member.
I’ve been through a lot of dentistry myself. I’ve experienced root canals, oral surgery, dental implants. I think that’s allowed me to sympathize with my patients in what they’re going through. I’m not sure how many dentists have had a lot of heavy-duty dental work, but I have and I know what it’s like. I think that helps me be a more caring dentist when we discuss the treatment that you need.
My dental journey has been a lot of culmination of lifelong goals and a way for me to really enjoy practicing dentistry and being excited to wake up every day, come to work, because this office of ours is something that I created from nothing and from scratch. When we show up every day, we do it because we love to.
If you’re not using modern technology in your dental office, then you’re behind the times these days. I made technology an important part of our office when I opened, and from day one we’ve implemented as much paperless, digital options as possible. We’re trying to do our part in helping the environment, but we’re also trying to streamline things and make it easier for you to fill out your paperwork.
Once you get here, we’re making sure we utilize digital X-rays to reduce your radiation exposure, make it safer for you but also quicker. There’s no developing old films with chemicals in the office or anything like that anymore. We can have an instantaneous image right in front of us. We capture photos with intraoral cameras that lets you actually see what it going on in your mouth.
We utilize iPads and have dental-geared applications and animations to help you understand the problems going on in your mouth and the ways to fix them. We’ve invested in different pieces of technology around our office that are the cutting edge in dental X-ray imaging. We have 3-D cone beam technology that is like a three-dimensional X-ray for your mouth. We’ve invested in 3-D printers that right in our office we can print a surgical guide that we’re using to place dental implants.
A number of these modern technologies help us first empower our patients in understanding what’s even going on in the mouth, and then it helps them be comfortable and confident in making the appropriate choice in treatment options. Dental technology is making things easier, faster, and actually more affordable for our patients.
